Join a voice channel
Click a voice channel (speaker icon) in the left column: you're in right away. The members present show up under the channel and on the stage in the middle. Moving from one voice channel to another happens without any cut.
At the bottom left, the In voice card gives access to the camera, screen sharing and the hang-up button; the mic (mute) and headset (deafen: you can't hear anyone and nobody can hear you) buttons are just below, next to your profile.
A voice channel can be protected by a password: you're asked for it when you enter, then it's remembered until you close the app.
Mic and sound
Everything is set in Settings → Voice and audio:
- Input and output devices (the “Default (Windows)” choice follows the headset selected in Windows), volumes, and a mic test with playback in your headset.
- Mic mode: Voice detection (with an adjustable threshold: the mic opens when you talk) or Push-to-talk.
- Noise suppression (keyboard, fan…), echo cancellation and automatic gain control (evens out your voice without touching the Windows setting).
Push-to-talk and the other shortcuts (mute, deafen) are set in Settings → Shortcuts. They work even when Voxsen is in the background (in game), and accept the side buttons of your mouse.
Volume of each person: right-click a member → User volume, or Mute (for me). This setting only affects you.
Channel audio profiles
Each voice channel has an audio profile, chosen by the server's managers:
| Profile | For |
|---|---|
| Standard | Chatting: clear voice, low bandwidth. |
| High quality | A richer voice, for long evenings. |
| Music | Listening to or playing music together (full sound, no voice processing). |
| Custom | Settings of your choice. |
Camera
Camera button on the In voice card. Quality is set in Settings → Video: from 360p (weak connection) to 720p (recommended), up to 4K with a 4K camera and a good connection. The server may limit the camera depending on your role's permissions.
If the picture stays black, check Settings → Permissions: Windows must allow access to the camera (and the mic) for desktop apps. A button opens the right Windows setting directly.
Share your screen
- Screen button on the In voice card.
- Choose an entire screen or a window, the quality (from 720p to 4K at 60 frames per second, depending on what your role allows) and whether the PC sound is shared.
- Others see “LIVE” next to your name and click Watch.
- PC sound is shared when you share an entire screen (not a single window). It includes all the PC's sound except Voxsen's: your friends don't hear themselves talking in your stream.
- You can watch several streams at once, each with its own volume. A stream can open in a separate window, as a floating mini player or full screen.
- A stream is only heard if it's being watched.
- 4K needs a powerful PC, connection and server: if it stutters, lower the quality.
